Forgiven: The Transforming Power of Confession

“To a great extent, the renewal of the Church in America and throughout the world depends on the renewal of the practice of Penance and the growth in holiness which that sacrament both inspires and accomplishes.” -Pope Benedict XVI

Sin, guilt, failure, disappointment . . . these are all an unpleasant but universal reality of the human experience. We all have to deal with them, but we can’t do it alone. The remedy is immediately available and miraculously effective—the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This isn’t a rule, a formality, or an old-fashioned ritual—it’s an intimate experience of God’s mercy. And it has the power not only to cleanse us from sin, but to heal us and transform our lives.

This ground-breaking program has a total of nine sessions that will invite your parishioners to a whole new understanding of the sacrament. The first four sessions will be added to FORMED on the following schedule:

  • November 1: Where Are You?
  • November 15: An Encounter with Mercy
  • November 29: The Rite Explained
  • December 13: For Children: How to Make a Good Confession

The remaining 5 sessions will be available on FORMED after Easter, April 17:

  • Biblical Foundations: Sin, Mercy, and the Sacrament of Confession
  • Answering Common Questions about Confession
  • For Parents: Preparing Your Child for First Confession
  • For Catechists: Revealing Mercy in a Merciless World
  • For Parish Staff: Strategies on How to Promote Confession
